I Can See You Digital Cartoon

I was in Church cultures that believed in prophets and prophecy. They would have us believe that they could see into our most private lives and innermost secrets.

The reasoning goes: God sees what goes on even in your bedroom, and prophets see through the eyes of God, so they can tell you exactly what you did last night.

They used this as a powerful tool of control.

Purity culture can create a feeling of constant surveillance, even in private moments. If purity culture has ever made you feel like you’re being judged, you’re not alone.
